New tower installed at REC headquarters

San Luis Valley REC recently installed a 180-foot tower onsite at the Monte Vista headquarters. Moving REC’s radio equipment from a local provider to our own space will save the coop and members approximately $30,000/year in rental fees and offer better coverage. Another important factor is cybersecurity; securing our own tower helps eliminate the potential for hackers. The tower will also be used to set up wireless Internet service for surrounding areas that lack access to fiber.
