Community Grants
Community Grant Funding Deadlines
The Foundation meets quarterly (March, June, September, December) throughout the year on the same day as SLVREC’s monthly board meetings (last Tuesday of the month). The annual meeting of the Foundation will be during the March meeting. Please verify meeting date prior to submitting application.
Grant funding requests for $10,000 or greater will be reviewed and disbursed during the annual meeting. They are due two weeks prior to the annual meeting. Applicants are asked to attend the meeting to present the funding request and answer questions. Grant funding requests less than $10,000 will be reviewed and disbursed during the quarterly meetings.
Grant funds are generally awarded two to three weeks after the board’s review and approval of project applications.
Community Grant Eligibility
1. Requests must be for charitable, educational or non-profit organizations only
2. Non-profit organizations that serve communities located within REC service areas
3. One application per project or event accepted each year
4. Charitable status or 501 (c) (#) organizations
5. Application must be for a project or event in the future (will not grant projects in the past)
6. Projects should fit in one or more of the following categories: Community Service, Economic Development, Education/Youth Development and/or Disaster Relief
Evaluation Factors
1. The following factors will be considered in the evaluation of all funding requests:
•Potential benefit to area residents and the entire community
•Level of community support for the program or project
•Administrative capability of the organization to deliver quality service or
program
•Lower priority may be given to applications from organizations who have been awarded a REC Community Grant in the past 24 months
2. It shall be the responsibility of all Foundation Directors to evaluate funding requests
and allocate contributions to accomplish the purposes and intent of these guidelines
Requirements
1. Completed application form (see link below) must be submitted two weeks prior to meeting
2. Include detailed budget showing how requested funds will be spent
3. If organization is a non-profit, please provide copy of IRS determination letter
4. Include any additional information pertaining to your project
5. Applicants are asked to attend Foundation meeting to present the funding request and answer questions if the request is $10,000 or greater
