2023 REC Strategic Road Map released by Eric Eriksen
Before Google Maps and smartphones there were Rand McNally paper road maps— the kind you kept in the glove box and pulled out while on a family road trip— unfolding and unfolding some more, while blindly driving for a moment to locate a familiar landmark associated with your location. Or maybe there’s a passenger assisting with navigation by providing directions, “keep going straight ahead.” Road maps are very important because it is likely without one, we’d be lost and never reach our destination.
The San Luis Valley Rural Electric Cooperative (SLVREC) provides essential electricity and Internet to our homes and businesses— incredibly improving rural life in the Valley and constantly moving forward. In 2022, your elected Board of Directors worked hard to finalize a 2022-2027 Strategic Plan identifying where we are headed next. The plan’s four areas of strategic focus include: Workforce, Reliability, Financial and Communications. The future is bright for San Luis Valley Rural Electric Cooperative members.
That sounds great, but how do we get there without getting lost? The road map! The cumulation of my first 90-days of listening and learning has been the creation of a 2023 Strategic Road Map. You’ll find a legend at the top describing member needs, mission and values, followed by the four measurable strategic plan focus areas of future improvements and associated imperative goals for 2023. The 2023 imperatives are the tactical goals we plan to accomplish this year.
Each year the road map will be updated with new annual imperatives. This will be the result of the entire SLVREC team listening to member input, brainstorming ideas, analyzing data, and ranking a list of opportunities. Each opportunity must be aligned with our mission, values and strategic plan focus to move forward. Only the best value opportunities will be selected and shared with you in an annual road map update. Finally, we will evaluate the annual accomplishments and share our progress toward the 2022-27 strategic plan goals.
Ask any SLVREC employee, visit our main office, or go online to slvrec.com to learn more. You can expect passion, integrity and excellence from me as I lead with the great people of SLVREC to best serve you. Today SLVREC is among the best cooperatives in Colorado, and we will constantly follow the road map toward a bright future.
